Colnago C64

The Colnago C64 bicycle is the authentic history of Colnago.

Colnago's relationship with carbon was not a bed of roses in its early days, rather the complete opposite. Ernesto’s carbon frames were never very successful commercially until the mid-1990s, where he was able to put the lessons learned to good use, building iconic frames such as the Colnago C-40 (1994) and its successor the C-50 (2004). These are respectively called for the 40 and 50 years of the company. Following these models came the C59 and C60, increasingly advanced carbon bikes, but always with a common denominator: 100% hand-built in Italy. In 2018, the last jewel of the crown arrived: COLNAGO C64.

COLNAGO C64: THE CONTINUING STORY

In 2018, after years of evolution and research, Colnago launched its new Colnago C64 frame. A frame fully adapted to new technologies, but maintaining Colnago's own identity, which has proved to be greatly successful in their more than 60-year history.

The Colnago C64 frame is completely handmade in Italy. The new larger diameter tube, lighter and stiffer, make this frame a tool of maximum performance, as well as one of great exclusivity and a "living legend" of cycling.

The Colnago C64's tubing and lugging are made from the finest carbon fibre, making it a one-of-a-kind frame which cannot be compared to anything else. Embedded in the design of the C64 is Ernesto Colnago's knowledge and experience, gained over a lifetime of seeking perfection in cycling.

COLNAGO C64: AN ALMOST CUSTOM-MADE FRAME

Colnago is very aware of the importance of good posture in which a cyclist must have on the bicycle. The frame must adapt to the cyclist, and not the other way around, which is why the Colnago C64 frameset is available in 2 different geometries: S and H.

The S (SLOPING) is available in 9 different sizes (42,45,48,50,52,54,56,58,60), while the H (HIGH) is available in 5 sizes (48,50,52,54,56). A total of 14 sizes make the C64 practically a made-to-measure frame.

The C64 is available with in both rim and disc brakes, approved by the UCI in its two versions.

Colnago C64 Weight and Pricing

As you already know, with these types of handmade frames, weight is not a priority. What it is a priority for Colnago is safety, and their frames pass ISO tests by far more than other manufacturer.

Despite this, the C64 (including the fork) is 270 grams lighter than the previous Colnago C60. Colnago tells us that the disc vs traditional brake version is only 15 grams heavier, which is a real win. The largest size, a 60cm, has a weight of 865 grams in the disc version. This is much less than the 1000 grams which is typical in these sizes.
