Wahoo Elemnt ACE Bike Computer
The new cycling computer aiming to compete with the Garmin 1050.
After more than two years without releasing a new GPS device, Wahoo has returned to the market with a bold statement, unveiling the Wahoo Elemnt Ace. This new cycling computer introduces several innovative features designed to rival the Garmin Edge 1050:
- Larger, Advanced Touchscreen: The Elemnt Ace features a next-generation 3.8-inch TFT touchscreen with a vibrant 16-million color display, exceeding the 3.5-inch screen of the Garmin Edge 1050.
- Integrated Wind Sensor: A unique addition is the built-in wind sensor, which measures airspeed in real-time. This data is analyzed post-ride using Wahoo’s Wind Dynamics tool, offering insights into how wind conditions impact performance.
- Longer Battery Life: With over 30 hours of battery life, the Elemnt Ace is built to handle extended rides without frequent recharging.
- Enhanced Navigation and Storage: Equipped with dual-band GPS and 64GB of internal storage, it supports detailed map data and provides reliable navigation, ideal for cyclists exploring diverse terrains.
- Customizable Aesthetic: The Elemnt Ace allows users to personalize its appearance with interchangeable trim plates available in blue, red, and black.
The Wahoo Elemnt Ace sets a new benchmark in cycling technology, positioning itself as a formidable competitor in the GPS market. Lets have a look!
NEW TFT SCREEN FULL COLOUR
The Wahoo Ace features a full-color touchscreen, marking a significant upgrade from its predecessors, which relied on e-ink technology and a limited color palette. While the screen is bright, it doesn’t quite match the luminance of the Garmin 1050. That said, visibility in direct sunlight remains excellent, ensuring clear readability during rides.
Wahoo has retained the physical buttons at the bottom of the unit for page navigation. These buttons offer a highly tactile and refined experience, consistent with the quality of previous models.
As for the touchscreen, it is responsive but doesn’t quite deliver the smooth, seamless feel of a modern smartphone.
Battery life of up to 30 hours.
One of the standout features of the Wahoo Ace is its impressive new battery, offering up to 30 hours of runtime. The larger size of the device has allowed Wahoo to include a significantly robust battery, making it a top contender for long-distance and ultra-endurance cycling events. This enhancement positions the Wahoo Ace as a reliable choice for cyclists who demand durability and extended performance on their most challenging rides.

Wind Dinamics
Arguably the most groundbreaking feature of the Wahoo Ace is its integrated wind sensor. This innovative addition provides real-time data on headwind speed and even indicates whether you're benefiting from "drafting." It's a truly revolutionary advancement, as no other cycling computer brand has implemented such technology. However, its practical value for training and everyday cycling remains to be seen, making it an exciting yet experimental feature to watch.
Weight and dimensions.
The first thing that stands out about the new Wahoo Ace is its size: 125mm in length and 68mm in width. At first glance, it gives the impression of being a robust device, albeit larger than usual for a GPS unit. Weight is also not one of its strong suits, coming in at 208 grams. However, this increased size has enabled Wahoo to integrate two major innovations: a significantly larger battery and a groundbreaking wind sensor.
