STAGES

STAGE 1 - First Day

Welcome to Slovenia! This challenging and rewarding loop begins and ends in the heart of the Slovenian Alps, starting in lake Bled (approx. 488 m elevation). Spanning 98 km with a total of 2,111 meters of climbing, this route is a perfect mix of dramatic scenery, technical descents, and sustained climbs that define Slovenia's alpine terrain.

STAGE 2 - Soriška Planina

This 118 km route takes you from the tranquil roads near Preddvor through some of Slovenia’s most scenic and rugged alpine terrain, finishing in the picturesque Baška Grapa valley.

The road is smooth and flowing up to the charming village of Nemški Rovt, offering gentle gradients and lush valley views. But beyond that, the character of the ride shifts dramatically.

You begin the long and steady climb to the Soriška Planina ski area, topping out at around 1,400 meters above sea level. This segment is the route’s crown jewel — isolated, serene, and spectacular, with dense pine forests and sweeping mountain panoramas. The descent from Soriška is fast and technical, demanding focus but delivering pure joy.

STAGE 3 - Queen Stage

This demanding 147 km loop with over 3,000 meters of climbing is a showcase of Slovenia’s rugged alpine grandeur, highlighted by a legendary ascent of Vršič Pass from Kranjska Gora — one of the most iconic climbs in Central Europe.

The route begins and ends near Bovec, easing you in with rolling roads before turning north toward the Triglav National Park. As you approach Kranjska Gora, the terrain rises sharply — the road begins to twist and narrow as you enter the climb to Vršič Pass (1,611 m). Famous for its cobblestone switchbacks, steep gradients, and jaw-dropping scenery, this climb is both historic and exhilarating.

After conquering the pass, the descent toward Trenta is long and technical, revealing vast alpine views and dense pine forests. The ride continues through the stunning Soča Valley, with its turquoise rivers and deep gorges, before circling back via quiet, forested climbs and fast descents.

STAGE 4 - The "rest day"

Don’t let the name fool you — this so-called Rest Day packs a serious punch. Clocking in at 117 km with nearly 2,900 meters of elevation gain, it’s the kind of ride only cyclists would dare call recovery.

Starting and ending in Bovec, the route meanders through hidden alpine valleys and lesser-known climbs that are anything but easy. Instead of a full-blown summit assault like Mangart or Vršič, this stage dishes out a series of smaller, punchier ascents that stack up fast and burn deep. The roads are quiet, the scenery is pure postcard, and the climbing just keeps coming.

It’s a day to spin the legs, soak in the mountain air… and secretly suffer. But hey, you earned it.

STAGE 5 - The Highest Stage

This highest stage is a true alpine epic, covering 110 km with a punishing 2,903 meters of climbing — a high-mountain odyssey through Slovenia’s most iconic roads.

The ride begins near Baška Grapa and gently rises before the day’s first major test: the legendary Vršič Pass (1,611 m), the highest paved mountain pass in Slovenia. Famous for its cobbled switchbacks and dramatic Julian Alps backdrop, Vršič is a must-ride climb for any serious cyclist. The descent into the Soča Valley is equally thrilling, twisting through alpine scenery and military-era stonework.

But the real challenge comes later: the ascent to Mangart Saddle, the highest road in Slovenia at 2,055 meters. The road narrows and climbs relentlessly through tunnels and alpine meadows to the Mangart Refuge, perched just below the peak. This climb is raw, exposed, and utterly spectacular — a true summit finish worthy of any grand tour.
